Senator Fuschillo Announces That Construction On Freeport Train Station Improvement Project Expected To Begin Tomorrow

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced today that construction is expected to begin tomorrow on an improvement project at the Freeport Train Station. Senator Fuschillo secured over $1 million in state funding last year to help pay for the improvements.

"Hundreds of residents use the Freeport Train Station everyday to get to and from work, making it a vital part of the Village’s infrastructure and economy. The improvements being made as part of this project will enhance the quality of life for the Freeport community by making the station safer and more user friendly," said Senator Fuschillo.

The improvement project at the Freeport train station includes the following:


- Improved heating system

- New security cameras in waiting room and elevator entrance at street level

- Better lighting

- Brand new wall and floor tiling

- Larger windows

- New waiting room doors
- Renovations to the platform elevator vestibules

According to the MTA, construction on the project is expected to start tomorrow, beginning with work to the platform waiting room, which is scheduled to be completed by the end of August.
