Senator Fuschillo Honors Local Teenagers For Their Charitable Efforts
State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District)recently met with the members of "One Is Greater Than None", a non-profit charitable organization founded this past spring by eight 14 year-old girls from Merrick and Lynbrook. Senator Fuschillo congratulated the girls on their efforts to save children in Ghana, Africa from indentured servitude.
"It is wonderful to see these girls taking an active role in improving the lives of others at such a young age. In less than a year, their efforts have already helped several children escape unimaginable conditions. As ‘One Is Greater Than None’ continues to grow, so will the number of children who will receive a better life thanks to these eight heroes," said Senator Fuschillo.
The girls are raising money to fund rescue missions that will save child slaves in the fishing villages of Ghana, Africa from brutal and inhumane conditions. The rescue missions give these children shelter, food, and an education. 100% of all the proceeds raised by the girls will go to the International Organization for Migration, which is the organization who conducts the rescue missions. "One Is Greater Than None" has already raised enough money to sponsor several rescue missions to save children.
"One Is Greater Than None" was founded by Kayla Barnofsky, Chelsea Genden, Hayley Feldman, Jessica Feldman, Sammi Malis, Anjelica Mantikas, Ariel Stern, and Sammy Walnick.
