Senator Fuschillo Secures State Funding For 2 New Safety Vehicles For Wantagh Fire Department

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced today that he successfully secured $50,000 in state funding to allow the Wantagh Fire Department to purchase two new emergency response vehicles.

The vehicles will be used by fire medics and fire safety officers, who are often one of the first responders on the scene of an emergency. Having these personnel at the site of a fire or medical emergency greatly enhances the safety of both the firefighters and the general public.

"The volunteer firefighters and medics of the Wantagh Fire Department selflessly donate their time to help protect their neighbors, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. These new vehicles will enhance their ability to respond quickly and effectively to emergencies within the community," said Senator Fuschillo.

"On behalf of the men and women of the Wantagh Fire Department, I’d like to thank Senator Fuschillo for securing these two emergency response vehicles, which are integral to our departmental operations. We deeply appreciate his continued support of our department and the fire service as a whole," said Commissioner William K. Field IV.

The Wantagh Fire Department is composed of approximately 225 men and women who provide fire protection and emergency medical services to the approximately 17,000 homes and 65,000 residents within the Wantagh Fire District. Firefighters and emergency medical personnel respond to an avergae of 2,100 alarms each year.
