Senator Fuschillo Secures State Funding For Child Care Council Of Suffolk

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced today that he secured $5,000 in state funding for the Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc. The funds will be used for the Council’s outreach program, which provides working families with resources, referrals, and education about different child care programs in their area.

"When both parents work in order to provide for their families, finding access to quality child care services becomes critical. This is especially true on Long Island, where most families depend on double incomes. The Child Care Council of Suffolk helps working families find child care services that are most beneficial to their needs. These funds will allow them to continue their efforts," said Senator Fuschillo.

"We are extremely grateful to Senator Fuschillo for securing this state funding. More and more, both parents are working outside the home to provide for their families, and they depend on child care programs for support. The need for these services is constantly growing in Suffolk County, and these funds will help us continue to serve local working families," said Janet Walerstein, Executive Director of the Child Care Council of Suffolk.

The Child Care Council of Suffolk is a not-for-profit agency that works with parents, providers, businesses, and community organizations to help promote the availability of quality child care services in the area. They provide parents with referrals and information on evaluating quality child care, plus resources on various parenting issues. They offer providers access to valuable training and support services for new or established programs. The Child Care Council of Suffolk also works to assess the supply and demand of child care in the community, and based on their findings, increase the supply where needed.

Suffolk County residents who would like more information about the programs and services offered by the Child Care Council of Suffolk can call 631-462-0303 or visit www.childcaresuffolk.org.
