Senator Fuschillo Supports New Law To Protect Children From Dangerous School Bus Exhaust

July 1, 2008 limiting the idling of school buses at schools that have a significant number of children with asthma and at other schools deemed appropriate by the Education Commissioner.

While a few New York schools have already voluntarily implemented a school bus no-idling policy of their own, most schools have not.

The new law is supported by the American Lung Association, the New York State Pupil Transportation Association and numerous environmental groups.
