Winner Holds Meeting Today In Tompkins County

Elmira, N.Y.-- State Senator George H. Winner, Jr. (R-C-I, Elmira)reminded area residents that he will hold a community meeting later today inIthaca.

Throughout the month of September Winner has conducted a series of regional community meetings in each of the five counties he represents throughout the 53rd Senate District (Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Yates and a part of Tompkins). Meetings have already been held in Bath, Odessa, Watkins Glen, Penn Yan, Dundee, Hornell and Corning, Horseheads and Elmira.

The meetings are designed to give residents an opportunity to directly share their concerns and opinions with their elected state representatives.

"The best ideas often come from the grassroots level -- concerned citizens, small business owners, local leaders. So I hope constituents will continue to take advantage of these opportunities to contribute to the debates over property taxes, economic development, public safety, health care and Medicaid reform and the other vital issues of the day," said Winner, who encouraged residents who have been unable to attend any of themeetings to still contact his offices to share their concerns and suggestions for better government.
