Senator Farley Announces Sparky The Fire Dog To Be At Fire Safety Expo On Oct. 24th
State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R,C - Schenectady) is proud to announce Sparky the Fire Dog from Montgomery County Emergency Management will be on hand to greet children at the Fire Safety Expo on October 24th at Tribes Hill Fire Department, Mohawk Drive, from 5 to 8 p.m.
"Children admire and respect Sparky and he is able to teach them about fire safety in a fun way," Senator Farley said.
Other participants are American Red Cross, HFM Prevention Council, Montgomery County Domestic Violence Services, Montgomery County Public Health, Montgomery County Traffic Safety Board, The Family Room, Montgomery County Emergency Management, and more. Free refreshments are also available.
In honor of October as Fire Safety Awareness Month, Senator Farley also has fire safety brochures available. When it comes to fire, preparation and practice can save lives," Senator Farley added. "I suggest families plan and practice fire drills on a consistent basis. Also make sure that extinguishers are in working order and that you have smoke detectors with fresh batteries."
"It is also important that everyone in your family know how to call your local fire department once they get out of the house. Have your children practice what they would say on the phone in case of a real emergency. I have a fire safety brochure that includes tips on how to make a fire drill effective," Senator Farley said.
