Senator Alesi To Receive First Fair Dedication

James S. Alesi

Senator Jim Alesi (R- Perinton), in appreciation of his continued commitment to the success of the Monroe County Fair, became the first community leader to be recognized by the Monroe County Fair & Recreation Association in a special dedication ceremony held today.

The first annual dedication ceremony, marked by a plaque presentation and ceremonial ribbon cutting, seeks to recognize a community leader who's support of the Fair Association is directly tied to the success of that year's Fair.

"I am deeply honored that the Fair Association would recognize my efforts in such a significant way," said Senator Alesi. "I thank the Association and its board and staff for all of the hard work that they do, year round, to make the Monroe County Fair such a success. It is my pleasure to do what I can to help an organization that is so important to our community."

"Senator Alesi has been unwavering in his support of the Fair and the Association," said Fran Tepper, Executive Director, Monroe County Fair & Recreation Association. "This year, the Senator's financial support of our renovations has made a huge difference in the amenities available for the 2007 Fair."

The funding secured by Senator Alesi aided with a number of important projects such as the renovation of restroom facilities, new pavement under the midway, and a complete rebuild of Minnett Hall, where animals and competitions are housed. In addition to these upgrades, there are a number of other improvements to the Fair & Expo Center which are still underway, including final landscaping and the completion of a new entry hall, which will provide one convenient entrance for both Fair & Expo Center facilities (the Dome Arena and Minnett Hall).

In an effort to make sure all children can visit the Monroe County Fair, Senator Alesi has again provided funding which will allow children under the age of twelve to be admitted for free all week long .

In addition to great food and fun rides, Senator Alesi will be making available his Family Information Kiosk at this year's Fair. The kiosk contains informational brochures, which include topics such as resources for college financial aid, bicycle safety, New York State fun facts, care and history of the United States flag and much more. Visitors will also be able pick up Senator Alesi’s Youth Fitness Program booklets for young children.

The 2007 Monroe County Fair runs from Wednesday, July 11th until Sunday July 15th.
