Milford's West Main Gets Rehab Funds

The Village of Milford is in line for state funding to resurface its West Main Street (County Route 44) from Route 28 in the village to the village limits, Senator James L. Seward announced today.

The village will be receiving $50,000 in state multi-modal transportation funding to pay for the project.

"State funding reduces pressure on local finances," Seward said, "and the stretch of road is in dire need of resurfacing. While it's a county route, it lies within the village and the village is responsible for its maintenance."

"We appreciate the senator's assistance," said Milford Mayor Sabine Curry. "Local governments and small villages in particular are under great financial pressures these days, so any additional help is a real bonus for village finances and for the taxpayers who will benefit from it, including the school district."

The street will be milled and resurfaced. A date has not been set for completion of the work.
