Oneonta Woman Reappointed To State Panel

James L. Seward

    A. Marie Lusins of Oneonta has been confirmed by the New York State Senate to serve on the Advisory Council to the Commission on the Quality of Care and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities, Senator James L. Seward said today. Seward is a member of the Senate Finance Committee, which must consider nominations before they are acted upon by the full senate.

Lusins, of Glens Bridge Road, Oneonta, is a town board member who developed a lifelong interest in, and advocacy for, mentally challenged children and adults following her daughter's battle with a brain tumor that began at age 8. She is former president of ARC Otsego and holds a degree in advertising design. She serves on the board of directors of Fox Hospital and has raised funds through Rotary to provide vaccinations for children in Ghana.

"I commend the governor for reappointing Marie to the council," Senator James L. Seward said. "Her work on behalf of the disabled and her knowledge of the issues make her an ideal candidate to serve the state in this capacity."

The panel advises and assists the commission in developing policies relating to care of the disabled.
The term expires February 24, 2008.
