Schoharie Man Appointed To State Panel

Jeffry Luria of Central Bridge has been confirmed by the New York State Senate to serve on the Advisory Council to the Commission on the Quality of Care and Advocacy for Persons with Disabilities, Senator James L. Seward said today. Seward is a member of the Senate Finance Committee, which must consider nominations before they are acted upon by the full senate.

Luria, of Grovenors Corners Road, Central Bridge, is a forensic psychologist with the Schoharie County Department of Mental Health. He is former chief psychologist at Albany Memorial Hospital, and has served on the board of directors of Schoharie County Community Action Program. His articles have been published in professional journals and is a contributing editor to the Journal of the American Psychological Association.

"I commend the governor for reappointing Luria to the council," Senator James L. Seward said. "His broad professional experience in psychology and education bring a great deal to the panel, and his reappointment by a new governor speaks volumes about his abilities and insights."

The panel advises and assists the commission in developing policies relating to care of the disabled.
The term expires July 1, 2008.
