Bonacic: Star Rebate Applications Being Sent

John J. Bonacic

Dear Neighbor,

As you may know, New York homeowners are once again eligible for real property tax relief in the form of a 2007 Middle Class STAR rebate program check. The Senate Majority made this a priority budget item and delivered.

This e-mail is to provide you with information about the rebate program and the link to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, the agency that is responsible for administering the rebate check program. This year’s rebate check is not only based on your property tax burden, but also on your ability to pay, factoring in your income level.

Starting July 16th, the Tax Department began mailing letters alerting homeowners who receive the basic STAR exemption of the need to apply and provide income information to receive this year’s rebate. Click here to connect to the Department of Taxation and Finance’s web page for more information including rebate amounts, general program information and how to apply. If you are a senior and receive the Enhanced STAR benefit, you do NOT need to apply.

As always, if I can be of any assistance to you on any state-related matter, please do not hesitate to contact my office via telephone at (845) 344-3311 or e-mail at bonacic@senate.state.ny.us..
