Senator Flanagan And Assemblyman Raia Welcome Flat Stanley To Albany

John J. Flanagan

Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) and Assemblyman Andrew Raia (9th Assembly District) recently welcomed Flat Stanley to Albany as part of a class project of kindergartner Gretchen Mack of St. Paul’s Lutheran School. The two legislators provided Flat Stanley with a tour of the State Capitol and took him into both chambers of the New York State Legislature.

Gretchen Mack sent Flat Stanley to Albany after reading the book "Flat Stanley" in her kindergarten class. In the story, a boy is flattened by a bulletin board and then sent to California in an envelope to visit a friend in California. After reading of the book with their class, the children sent their own Flat Stanley to visit a place or a person and Gretchen chose to send her Flat Stanley to visit Assemblyman Raia and Senator Flanagan.
