Senator Flanagan Joins With Area Girl Scouts For Operation: Cookie
Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) and local Girl Scout troops from Suffolk County will again join together on Friday, April 20th to bring a feeling of home to United States servicemen and women overseas. Senator Flanagan will join the Girl Scouts to host Operation: Cookie in Smithtown from 3:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The event will take place in the lobby of 260 Middle Country Road in Smithtown, where Senator Flanagan's district office is located.
"Operation: Cookie" allows local residents to purchase Girl Scout cookies which will be sent by the Girl Scouts to United States servicemen and women serving overseas. The full line of Girl Scout cookies including Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs will be available through the program.
Those who wish to purchase cookies for our troops can sponsor them by filling out a sponsorship form which includes a place for your name and a personal message to the troops. The cookies, which cost $3.50 per box, may be paid for by check, credit card or cash.
Cookies will also be available for individual purchase. A portion of each sale will be returned to the Suffolk County Girl Scouts (GSSC) which is the largest youth-serving agency in Suffolk County, serving more than 42,000 girls.
"This program is a great way for all of us to let those in our military know that we care about them and that we support them. I thank all of our local Girl Scouts troops who have volunteered their time in this effort, and we invite everyone in the community to join us", concluded Senator Flanagan. For more information, please visit THE OPERATION COOKIE SECTION of Senator Flanagan's web site.
