National Night Out

José M. Serrano

The Senator took part in National Night Out events in the Bronx and East Harlem on Tuesday evening.

National Night Out is a crime and drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch.

"It's always a pleasure to see our youth participating in National Night Out," said the Senator. "They are ensuring the community remains safe and strong for the future, when their own children will be growing up here."

The Senator participated in National Night Out events sponsored by the 23rd and 25th Precincts in East Harlem, as well as Roberto Clemente State Park and the 44th and 46th Precincts in the Bronx.

"We need to do all we can to strengthen bonds and increase understanding between communities and their police precincts," said the Senator.

"I strongly support National Night Out events throughout my district. This program, now in its 24th year, has helped to usher in record drops in crime," he said.

"I grew up in the South Bronx, and it's been extraordinary to see the changes generated by community activism and involvement over the past three decades."
