Senior Center Visits
Senator Serrano celebrated Valentine's Day with Bronx seniors this week.
"Senior citizens are the foundation of our community," said the Senator. "They understand the importance of history and tradition, while also recognizing where there's room for change and growth."
The Senator's first stop was the Highbridge Senior Center on Nelson Avenue. The second event took place at Highbridge Gardens Senior Center on University Avenue, where residents of the Sedgwick Senior Center also joined in the festivities.
Hand-made cakes were provided at both events by students from the South Bronx Job Corps Academy. They include Maribeth Guzman, President of the school's Trainee Management Team, and Cerena Hayes and Candice Estrada, who study culinary arts.
The events also provided an opportunity for Senator Serrano to field questions from the seniors and listen to their concerns.
