Serrano Celebrates Puerto Rican Day Parade
Senator Serrano celebrated a weekend of Puerto Rican culture, taking part in the 116th Street Block Festival and Puerto Rican Day Parade.
"The 116th Street Festival is a fabulous display of the culture and commerce available in East Harlem," said the Senator. "Visitors from around the world come not just to enjoy the neighborhood, but really appreciate the history that runs beneath."
The next day, he marched in the Puerto Rican Day Parade along with his father, Congressman Jose E. Serrano (pictured above).
"The parade is a mesmerizing event," said the Senator. "Every year, I am amazed by the sheer number of people, and the great orchestra of color and sound along Fifth Avenue. The parade reaffirms that Puerto Rican culture is part of the fabric of our city and our country. I'm already looking forward to next year."
