Serrano Is Honoree At Mt. Hope Housing Gala

Senator Serrano was among the honorees at the 2nd Annual Mount Hope Housing Company Gala, celebrating 21 years of service in the Bronx.

"Mount Hope has been at the forefront of community renewal for years," said the Senator. "Moreover, in their commitment to providing accessible Internet technology for residents, Mount Hope is helping close the digital divide in low- and middle-income neighborhoods."

New York 1 anchor Dominic Carter hosted the event. Congressman José E. Serrano was also honored for his dedication to the Bronx and affordable housing.

Mount Hope Housing Company, Inc. is a community development organization that rehabilitates and manages affordable housing as well as providing a robust array of services to help its residents move up the economic ladder.

The organization offers youth services such as computer and GED classes, recreational and cultural opportunities, career counseling and academic enrichment; employment services such as job readiness, counseling and placement; and community-based asset-building services such as workshops in money management training, and help with starting businesses, buying homes and continuing education through matched fund savings accounts.
