Senator Parker Honored With Leadership Award At Shema Kolainu Legislative Breakfast
Shema Kolainu – Hear Our Voices, a school and center for children with autism, recently hosted a legislative breakfast attended by hundreds of prominent community leaders, elected officials and members of the clergy who displayed their deep support for this community-based organization. New York Senate Democratic Leader Malcolm A. Smith presented State Senator Kevin Parker with the Legislative Leadership Award, in light of his years of public service, ongoing commitment to children and families with special needs and support for autism research. Senate Leader Smith introduced Senator Parker as a distinguished legislator who, "is committed to doing what is best for the community, in legislative matters and humanitarian efforts."
As an outstanding legislator and advocate for the community, Senator Parker has placed children with special needs and organizations such as Shema Kolainu on his priority list. Senator Parker serves as ardent advocate of affordable healthcare, efficient government, and improving education. It is in recognition of these efforts that Shema Kolainu presented the award to the Senator.
In accepting the award Senator Parker praised Shema Kolainu for being one of the strongest institutions in his district. "As legislators, there is not enough that we can do to support this work," he said. The Brooklyn lawmaker reiterated his commitment to autism care and research.
