Golden Allocates Funding To Support Skate Park And Shore Road Road Garden Council Operations

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) today is announcing his allocation of funds through the New York State Senate that will support the operation of both the Skate Park in Owl’s Head Park and the Shore Road Garden Council.

Senator Golden allocated $62,000 to fund Season Playground Associate Salaries in the 2007-2008 State budget. The employees will be placed at Owl’s Head Sake Park, located at 68th Street and Colonial Road, to assist with providing recreational programs for the many children and skaters who utilize the skate park on a regular basis. Senator Marty Golden, as a member of the New York City Council, funded the construction of the skate park known as the "Millenium Skate Park", which is highly regarded and has been featured in both commercials and on "Saturday Night Live".

Senator Golden has also allocated $25,000 to the New York City Parks Department to fund a Seasonal Park Associate for the Shore Road Garden Council to assist in their maintenance of Shore Road Garden Park.

Senator Marty Golden stated, "The support and maintenance of our local parks, playgrounds and recreational facilities is essential to the quality of life of all residents. Our community is fortunate to be home to many great parks and playgrounds. In that light, we must encourage children, residents and families to enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of these public areas, and by bringing about the very best conditions, we are inviting many to take advantage and explore the greatness that is our parks."

Marty Golden, as a member of the New York City Council, repeatedly ranked first out of the entire Council membership of fifty one, in funding for parks and playgrounds. Then-Councilman Golden funded renovations of park projects including JJ Carty Park, 79th Street Park, ball fields along Shore Road and at Dyker Park, Russell Pederson Playground, McKinley Park and Playground, Volunteer Playground and others.
