Golden Critical Of Parks Service Selection Of New Ferry Service Provider For Tours

Martin J. Golden

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) today is criticizing the decision of the National Parks Service that selected the California based Hornblower to operate ferry service to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island.

Senator Golden stated, "The federal government’s decision to select California based Hornblower and at the same removing a local, New York based company, to operate one of the most famous of New York’s attractions is a mistake. The Circle Line-Statue of Liberty has served New York City and all visitors well throughout the years, giving the opportunity to millions to visit historical sites over the past fifty years, and they deserved the chance to continue to serve in the same fine manner."

Golden continued, "I believe that it was inappropriate for a member of Brooklyn’s Congressional Delegation to expend so much energy on advocating that the National Parks Service take this contract away from the Circle Line, a New York City based company."
