Golden Honors U.s. Naval Special Warfare Development Group For Service In The Global War On Terror

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden, (R-C, Brooklyn), a member of the State Senate Committee on Homeland Security, Military and Veterans Affairs, recently presented a New York State Senate Resolution to the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group for its valiant military service by supporting the Global War on Terror as they were welcomed to Brooklyn and honored by the New York State Police at a reception held at the Bay Ridge Manor.

All SEAL teams are currently engaged in Counterrorism operations worldwide, specifically Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. The Naval Special Warfare Development Group supports these efforts by providing personnel that continually evaluates tactics, techniques and procedures and ensuring all SEAL teams have the most current war fighting technologies available.

The Group is currently based out of Damn Neck, Virginia, and the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group provides centralized management for the development of cutting-edge technologies to ensure the SEAL teams deploy with the appropriate tools to combat terrorism worldwide. The Group develops and evaluates new tactics, some of which are shared with the New York City Police Department and State organizations.

The Resolution, authored by Senator Golden, in part reads, "...and residents of this great State must never forget the courage with which these men and women served their country, and must recognize that no greater debt is owed than that owed to those who gave their lives for their beloved Nation and to those who continue to be missing in action...That this Legislative Body pause in its deliberations to honor the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group for its valiant military service by supporting the Global War on Terror."

Senator Golden stated, "It was truly an honor for New York to welcome the distinguished members of this Naval Group to Brooklyn and to New York so that we can say thank you for all that they have done to keep us and the world safe from terrorism. From near the first battlefield of this War on Terrorism, we have shown our appreciation as a people, a City and a State, that we are grateful for their willingness to defend our freedoms."
