Golden Issues Statement On Death Penalty Ruling For Cop Killer
Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, Brooklyn), a former New York City Police Officer, issued the following statement on this afternoon’s federal court ruling in Brooklyn sentencing Ronell Wilson to the death penalty for murder of undercover Detectives Rodney Andrews and James Nemorin:
"In light of the recent violent attack on our City's officers, I hope this decision sends a message to the depraved individuals out there who commit these heinous acts," said Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Brooklyn). "The U.S. District court in Brooklyn should be commended for imposing this strict sentence on a cold blooded killer who took the lives of two of New York's bravest. Justice has been served and the punishment fits the crime.
I have looked into the eyes of would-be cop-killers on the streets of New York City. I know that there is this evil walking on the streets of New York City, those who endanger the lives of every single New York City Police Officer. There is no greater deterrent than the death penalty to protect our society and our Police Officers.
May we continue to keep the families of these late New York City Police Department Detectives in our thoughts and prayers at this time."
