Golden To Unveil State Senate Hero Commemorative Print To Honor Police Officer Moira Smith's Memory, Lost In 9/11/01 Attacks, At Bay Ridge Library

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) along with Brooklyn Public Library Executive Director Dionne Mack-Harvin and Police Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly, will officially unveil a New York State Senate Women of Distinction framed commemorative print officially inducting Police Officer Moira Smith into State Senate history as a Senate Woman of Distinction at the Bay Ridge Branch of Brooklyn Public Library, 7223 Ridge Boulevard, on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 1:15 p.m.

Police Officer Moira Smith was officially inducted as a hero of the New York State Senate Women of Distinction program earlier this year. The tribute, which is also on display in the State Capitol, remembers the life and ultimate sacrifice of Police Officer Moira Smith, the only female police officer lost in the World Trade Center attacks on September 11, 2001.

The framed commemorative print includes Police Officer Smith’s biography and photo, will be displayed at the Bay Ridge Library a month. Moira Smith was born and raised in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. Members of the New York City Police Department, will join friends and family of the late Police Officer Moira Smith at the dedication ceremony.
