Senator Golden To Host 2nd Annual Special Education Fair To Help Local Children And Families
Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden will be hosting a special education fair for families and students of School District 20, 21 ad 22 on Saturday, November 3, 2007, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Marine & Academic Center (MAC) Rotunda at Kingsborough Community College located at 2001 Oriental Boulevard in Brooklyn.
Issues and concerns to be discussed include being a parent of a child with special needs, higher education opportunities for special needs children, and services offered by advocacy organizations and much more. Informational tables featuring local advocacy organizations, community resources and State and City agencies devoted to special education will be available.
Senator Marty Golden, a member of the Senate Education Committee, stated, "It is important that we provide the important information to families of children with disabilities, so that they can get the proper services and they can learn with the very best of opportunities. By bringing together these leading advocates and educational leaders at my 2nd Annual special education fair, we will make real progress that will have long term effects that will benefit our families and our society."
Forum speakers include Linda Wernikoff, Executive Director of the Office of Special Education Initiatives, and Yolanda Cacciolo, Director of the N.Y.U.’s CRC Counseling for Students with Chronic Illnesses Psychological Disabilities.
