Senator Golden To Host Asian Pacific Heritage Celebration For Brooklyn

Brooklyn-State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) today is announcing that he will be hosting his 5th Annual Asian Pacific Heritage Festival at McKinley Park on Sunday, May 20, 2007, from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is inviting the community to join in this special celebration in conjunction with the national celebration of Asian American Heritage Program which is celebrated in the month of May.

The program will include ethnic dances including the Chinese Lion Dance, a demonstration of Buddhist Monk Kung Fu, and Indian and Malaysian dances. A wide array of food, arts and crafts and prizes will be available as well.

Senator Marty Golden stated, "Millions of Americans trace their origins to nations in the Asian/Pacific region and they enrich Brooklyn, New York and our Nation. Each year, we celebrate the month of May as Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month and we celebrate the achievements and the success of this culture. I look forward to hosting this annual event that recognizes the many important contributions that Asian/Pacific Americans have made to our community."

President George W. Bush issued a Proclamation in honor of Asian/Pacific American Heritage Month, 2007. In the text of the proclamation, he wrote, "These good men and women contribute to the character and greatness of America."
