Senator Marty Golden Encourages Outpour Of Support For “Project Little Soldier”

Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, Brooklyn), a member of the State Senate Committee on Homeland Security, Military and Veteran Affairs, today is encouraging an outpour of support from New Yorkers for "Project Little Soldier", an effort designed to support the children the soldiers currently deployed to foreign lands.

Senator Marty Golden stated, "We need to make the children who are left behind at home, while their parents are deployed, smile this holiday season. It is difficult to spend the holidays while your parents are away proudly serving in the military, so for us, all living here in freedom, we must support these ‘little soldiers‘ as best as possible and make the holiday season bright and full of happiness and joy."

"Project Little Solider" has accepted a wish list from military personnel of 3 (three) gifts for each child. Some of the items requested to make these wishes come true include: Gift Cards (Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Toys R Us, sports stores), footballs, soccer balls, basketballs, cars, trucks, trains, baby dolls, Barbies, Dora, Bratz Dolls, Transformers, Action Figures, Children’s books, baby items, children’s hats and gloves.

"Project Little Solider" was started five years ago to support the children of all deployed military from the tri-state area. The first year they needed 173 toys to meet the wishes of the children and this year, they are requiring 7000 toys to meet the needs. Project Little Soldier is run by a non-for-profit agency called ARMS, which throughout the year, sends packages to the troops and assists their families.
