Senator Marty Golden To Host Follow Up Meeting For Tornado Victims With Officials

Martin J. Golden

Brooklyn-State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) will host a follow up meeting for Brooklyn victims of the recent tornado on Tuesday, November 13, 2007 at the Fourth Avenue Presbyterian Church, located at 6735-4th Avenue, at 6:30 p.m. Representatives from the Mayor’s Office, the Department of Buildings, the Department of Transportation, the American Red Cross, the Small Business Administration, the Federal Emergency Management Agency, and others will be present to answer questions and address concerns and provide an update.

Senator Golden has provided assistance to victims of the tornado since it occurred on August 8, 2007 and has been working closely with local families and city agencies to resolve the devastation caused by the tornado damage. The meeting will provide information to those who are experiencing ongoing problems returning to their homes or filing claims. Business owners who were affected by the tornado are encouraged to attend as well to resolve any ongoing issues with their businesses.

Senator Golden stated, "The impact on our homes and commercial enterprises was significant, but the resolve of our community overcame this disaster and allowed our businesses to quickly return to full operation. We will continue to assist any families and businesses who are still facing difficulties. The deadline for filing for federal assistance is November 15th and so we must insure that all those who need to file claims do in fact by this deadline."

Chinese translators will be present at the meeting as well. Anyone with questions can contact Senator Golden’s office at (718) 238-6044.
