Nozzolio Announces Final Budget To Include $2.75 Million For Town Of Farmington & Ontario County
Albany - State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio announced today that the final state budget will include more than $2.75 million to assist Ontario County and the Town of Farmington with increased costs associated with having a video lottery terminal facility or racino in their community. The State budget includes funding for each community in New York State that has a racino or VLT facility.
“Over 1.4 million people visited the Finger Lakes Gaming and Racetrack last year, making it the top tourist attraction in the Greater Rochester region. With their $10 million expansion, the Finger Lakes Gaming Racetrack is expected to attract even more people this year. It was a pleasure to help secure funding in the State budget to help Ontario County and the Town of Farmington accommodate this influx of visitors,” Senator Nozzolio said.
As part of the Local Assistance State Budget the VLT Impact Aid program will direct $1.87 million in state aid to the Town of Farmington and $881,575 to Ontario County.
Town of Farmington Supervisor Ted Fafinski praised the efforts of Senator Nozzolio in delivering this new state aid, “Once again, Senator Nozzolio has provided our community with real leadership and vision, by providing the Town of Farmington with meaningful state aid to allow us to address difficult issues like traffic congestion, infrastructure improvements and area beautification.”
“The Racino has created new jobs and has attracted new visitors to our region. Now we must make sure that the Town of Farmington and Ontario County do everything possible to encourage these visitors to come back again and again. With this important state aid, it is my belief that local officials will have the tools to meet those challenges and put the Town of Farmington’s best foot forward,” Nozzolio concluded.
