Nozzolio Calls For Full Investigation Into Discovery Of Contamination At Ganondagan State Historic Site
Victor – New York State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio today called on officials at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) to thoroughly investigate the site of a dumping ground discovered at Ganondagan State Historic Site to determine if it is contributing to the contamination issues in the Town of Victor. Senator Nozzolio also called for the immediate release of the results of all preliminary tests that the DEC has conducted at the site.
“The Department of Environmental Conservation must do everything possible to provide residents with the information they need to protect their family's health and well being,” said Senator Nozzolio. “The recent discovery that a dumping ground at Ganondagan State Historic Site could be contributing to the contamination issue facing Victor residents needs to be thoroughly investigated and Victor residents need to be notified immediately by the DEC of the results of all tests that are done at the site.”
“As the investigation of this new possible contamination source continues, the Department of Environmental Conservation needs to keep residents constantly updated on the status of their investigation,” continued Nozzolio.
A recent article in the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle revealed that a dump site at Ganondagan State Historic Site could be a source of possible contamination. After being notified by the Democrat and Chronicle reporter, the DEC conducted preliminary tests at the site. Senator Nozzolio is calling for the State DEC to release the full results of those tests and to conduct further tests at the site.
“The DEC should release the results of the preliminary tests that have been conducted at Ganondagan State Historic Site. Only through a complete disclosure of all testing results can the residents of Victor be assured that the DEC is doing all possible to protect the safety of their homes and families,” concluded Nozzolio.

It was certainly a shock and disappointment to read Sunday's Democrat & Chronicle newspaper account of another possible contamination site in the Town of Victor.
For the last three months, Victor residents have faced uncertainty and concern over the possible contamination of their homes. This latest disclosure of an additional dump site in the Town of Victor raises serious questions and causes additional anxiety for people living in this area.
It is my hope that you will conduct an extensive, thorough and immediate investigation into the latest site to be discovered and that you will provide Victor residents with a full disclosure of all test results before the DEC conducts their public meeting on the Victor contamination issue on June 26th.
Your immediate attention to this critically important matter is needed and will be deeply appreciated.
