Senator Nozzolio Secures $250,000 For Further Development Of Seneca Army Depot

Romulus—State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio announced that he has secured $250,000 in state funding to further develop the Seneca Army Depot and create jobs. The funding will be used by the Seneca County Industrial Development Agency (SCIDA) for infrastructure improvements and will allow Finger Lakes Technologies Group and the Ontario and Trumansburg Telephone Companies to build a new facility at the Depot.

“As State Senator, I am committed to the revitalization of the Seneca Army Depot and am pleased to secure this important funding to continue my efforts to transform the Army Depot into an economic engine for Seneca County and the Finger Lakes,” said Senator Nozzolio. “Since the Army base closed, there have been great strides made to revitalize the Depot and this funding will allow the continued development of the Seneca Army Depot.”

Glenn Cooke, Executive Director for the SCIDA, said, “We are delighted that the Finger Lakes Technologies Group has selected a portion of the Seneca Army Depot for use in their fiber optic operations. Their presence will encourage other high-tech companies to locate at the Depot.”

The infrastructure improvements at the Depot will allow for the construction of a new facility for the Finger Lakes Technologies Group and the Ontario and Trumansburg Telephone Companies.

Paul Griswold, President and CEO of the Finger Lakes Technologies Group and the Ontario and Trumansburg Telephone Companies, said, “This state funding will allow our company to make a major investment in the Seneca Army Depot property. We hope this investment will be the catalyst for major growth in this area. The Seneca Army Depot property is an asset to our region; we want to help make this property more marketable.”

Senator Nozzolio has been instrumental in securing millions of dollars for the Seneca Army Depot. Projects have included construction of the Five Points Correctional Facility and the Hillside Children’s Center.

“It was a pleasure to fight for this necessary funding and I will continue to my efforts to utilize additional acres at the Depot to stimulate new business growth and create new jobs in our region,” concluded Nozzolio.
