Senator Nozzolio Secures $45,000 For Cayuga And Seneca Counties

Moravia- State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) today announced that he has secured $45,000 in State funding for Cayuga and Seneca Counties. As part of the announcement, the Moravia Fire Department will receive a $15,000 state grant for the purchase of a new thermal imaging camera and Four Towns First Aid ambulance service will receive $20,000 for a defibrillator. Later in the day, Senator Nozzolio announced $10,000 in state funding for the purchase of emergency equipment for the Village of Lodi.

“Our brave firefighters represent the very best of our communities and the very best of New York State,” said Senator Nozzolio. “Local fire departments provide critical lifesaving services every day and I commend them for the selfless and heroic duties they perform. Their service reminds us of the importance of having well-trained and fully equipped firefighters ready to save lives and protect our citizens, families and communities.”

“It was a pleasure for me to secure this grant and support the Moravia Fire Department and I commend Fire Chief Kevin Genson and the firefighters for their continued commitment to public service,” Nozzolio continued.

Moravia Mayor Don Myers said, “This important funding that Senator Nozzolio is delivering today will allow us to purchase a very valuable tool for allowing our firefighters to detect heat in a burning building. We are very lucky to have such a great fire department in Moravia, filled with committed and well-trained firefighters.”

Moravia Fire Chief Kevin Genson said, “The thermal imaging camera is a life-saving piece of equipment that will enhance the safety of our firefighters and allow us to increase our effectiveness in our community and neighboring towns. We appreciate all that Senator Nozzolio has done for us in the past and this grant today will help the Moravia Fire Department immensely.”

Senator Nozzolio also announced that he successfully secured $20,000 for the Four Town First Aid Squad, an ambulance service serving the Towns of Moravia, Niles, Locke, and Sempronius. The funding announced today will be used for the purchase of a new defibrillator.

“A new defibrillator will help Four Town First Aid serve their communities and provide emergency medical care to residents. It was a pleasure to secure this funding so that Four Town First Aid can continue to provide the most up-to-date medical services,” continued Nozzolio.

Later in the day, Senator Nozzolio visited the Lodi Village Hall in Seneca County to deliver a $10,000 state grant for the Village to purchase new emergency equipment.

Village of Lodi Councilman Fred Hallett said, “We greatly appreciate this funding that Senator Nozzolio was able to deliver. The whole community will benefit from the purchase of a new power generator, especially in the face of ice storms and power outages.”
