Senator Nozzolio Secures $50,000 For Local Fire Departments

Citing the importance of assisting local fire departments in their efforts to protect the community, State Senator Michael F. Nozzolio (R-Fayette) today announced that he has secured $50,000 in State grants for area fire departments- $15,000 for the Varick Fire Department, $20,000 for the Marbletown Volunteer Fire Department in Lyons, and $15,000 for the Wallington Fire Department in Sodus.

“Our brave firefighters represent the very best of our communities and the very best of New York State,” said Senator Nozzolio. “Local fire departments provide critical lifesaving services every day and I commend our firefighters for the selfless and heroic duties they perform. Their service reminds us of the importance of having well-trained and fully equipped firefighters ready to save lives and protect our citizens, families and communities.”

The Marbletown Volunteer Fire Department will use the $20,000 State grant for the purchase of a new Emergency Utility Vehicle equipped with siren and fire extinguisher.

Marbletown Fire Chief Kenneth Boyd said, “Senator Nozzolio’s efforts in securing this funding will allow us to obtain this much needed response vehicle. We greatly appreciate Senator Nozzolio’s efforts to secure this State grant to support the Marbletown Volunteer Fire Department.”

Separate $15,000 State grants were also secured for the Varick Fire Department and the Wallington Fire Department to assist in purchasing and upgrading emergency equipment.

Varick Fire Chief Mike Neilsen said, “We appreciate all that Senator Nozzolio has done for us in the past and this grant today will help the Varick Volunteer Fire Department immensely in purchasing new fire fighting equipment.”

Wallington Fire Chief Randy Crandell said, “On behalf of the entire fire department, I would like to thank Senator Nozzolio for deliver this state funding. The whole community will benefit from the funding that will allow us to purchase new lifesaving equipment.”

“It was a pleasure for me to secure this grant to support our local fire departments and I commend all of the firefighters for their continued commitment to public service,” Nozzolio concluded.
