Albany Workshop To Welcome Hundreds Of Bronx Students

New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) is proud to announce that hundreds of middle school and high school students from his District will travel to Albany on Saturday, February 17, 2007 to attend a workshop at the New York State Black and Puerto Rican Legislators Caucus. The workshop, From Arrest to Lockup --- The Rise of Young Women in the Juvenile Justice System, has been organized by New York State Assemblyman Ruben Diaz, Jr. and Ms. Camella Pinkney-Price, Chief of Staff for Senator Rev. Diaz. The workshop will take place from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM in Hearing Room A on the Second Floor in the LOB in Albany.

"This event will give elected officials in Albany an special opportunity to listen to the concerns of our young adults and discuss how to work together with them and their schools, community groups, churches and group homes – especially about ways to intervene before problems become too serious," stated Senator Rev. Diaz. "A great benefit of this workshop is that our youth will be more encouraged to raise their voices on behalf of our community and to learn a little more about their civic responsibilities."

Bronx Schools and community groups planning to attend include Fannie Lou Hamer High School, MS 201, Aspira Girls Chat from IS 174, South Bronx Job Corps Academy, Girlspirit.
