Senator Saland Announces Date For Golden Gathering
Senator Steve Saland (R,I,C Poughkeepsie) invites all seniors to his Annual Golden Gathering to be held Saturday, November 3rd at Columbia-Greene Community College in Hudson, from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Over 70 exhibitors will be available offering a wide range of information for seniors. In addition, there will be free screenings for blood glucose, blood pressure, spinal stress and osteoporosis, as well as golf fitness assessment. Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Christopher Gorczynski will offer a presentation on Innovations in Arthritis.
As always, free flu shots will be provided by the Columbia County Health Department thanks to the generosity of Mid-Hudson Cablevision. "November 3rd at the Golden Gathering would be a perfect time to receive your flu shot," according to Nancy Winch, RN, Columbia County Public Health Director.
Entertainment will be provided by the Philmont Community Chorus and the Rip Van Winkle Brass. Food and refreshments will be donated by Price Chopper supermarkets. Due to the generosity of local businesses, many door prizes will be offered.
"I urge all seniors, as well as those who care for seniors, to attend my Golden Gathering. It’s a great opportunity to learn about senior health care options, exercise, insurance, safety and consumer protection, as well as get a free flu shot, hear some wonderful music over coffee and a doughnut and maybe win a great door prize", said Senator Saland.
This is Senator Saland’s 15th annual senior fair in Columbia County. The event attracts approximately 400-500 people and is free of charge for all seniors, as well as exhibitors, due to the generosity of corporate contributors, Verizon and the McCann Foundation.
