Thompson Announces Clean Air/clean Water Forum
Taking Control of Our Environmental Bare Necessities; Free Tree Seedlings to be Distributed
Buffalo, NY- Antoine M. Thompson, New York State Senator, 60th District (Parts of Erie & Niagara Counties) is scheduled to host an environmental gathering on Clean Air/Clean Water. The forum is a single day event scheduled for Friday, April 18, 2008, being held from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Buffalo Museum of Science, located at 1020 Humboldt Parkway. All participants will receive free tree seedlings.
The forum’s purpose is to provide a historical perspective of local air and water quality, identifying local environmental hot spots and posing solutions to these existing conditions. “Pollution has caused a number of problems, ranging from motor vehicle exhaust fumes, to the release of chemicals into the atmosphere from manufacturing plants, to flushing outdated pharmaceutical drugs into our water system. We must take action to minimize the impact that this has on our environment, our lives, and the lives of our future generations,” stated Senator Thompson.
The forum will feature panelists from the NYS Attorney General’s Office, NYS Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC), the Community Action Organization’s (CAO) Environmental Justice Office, the Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper, NY Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG), the City of Buffalo Environmental Management Commission, and the Green Party.
