Child Care Council Of Suffolk Receives State Funding From Senator Fuschillo

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced today that he secured $5,000 in state funding for the Child Care Council of Suffolk County. The funding will be used to help offset the costs for outreach and training programs.

The Child Care Council of Suffolk, Inc. is a not-for-profit central planning and coordinating agency dedicated to making child care work for all of Suffolk County's communities. Through advocacy and education, the Council takes a leadership role in supporting children, families, providers, employers, and the public to ensure that quality child care takes its place as an integral part of society.

The Council also has trained counselors available to help families locate child care providers that best meet their needs, provide information about quality care for children, and show them what to look for when selecting a child care program.

“With most families having both parents working, the need for child care is growing. Child Care Council of Suffolk provides a valuable service to parents by teaching them what to look for when selecting child care and helping them find programs in their area that will provide quality care. This funding will help Child Care Council of Suffolk continue their important work,” said Senator Fuschillo.

“The Board of Directors and staff thank Senator Fuschillo for securing this funding for the Child Care Council of Suffolk. These funds will help encourage the growth and improve the quality of the Early Care and Education field, which is key to giving our children the kind of environment they deserve,” said Janet Walerstein, Executive Director of the Child Care Council of Suffolk.
