Senator Fuschillo Secures State Funding For Child Abuse Prevention Programs
State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) announced today that he secured $10,000 in state funding for Child Abuse Prevention Services (CAPS). The funding will be used to help defray the costs of programs to help prevent child abuse and neglect.
CAPS is a non-profit organization founded in 1982 whose mission is to prevent child abuse and keep children safe. CAPS has professionally trained volunteers who present programs for students, adults, and community groups about issues such as child abuse prevention, bullying, Internet safety, sexual harassment, and date rape. CAPS also offers an Internet helpline.
“Teaching children about abuse and showing them how they can protect themselves and prevent abuse is one of the best ways to help keep them safe. CAPS works tirelessly to help children and parents learn about abuse prevention, and these state funds will help CAPS continue their invaluable work,” said Senator Fuschillo.
“CAPS is delighted that Senator Fuschillo was able to secure this state funding, which will be used to continue and expand our educational and community assistance programs for local children and families. Through his continued support, Senator Fuschillo has helped bring us one step closer to achieving our goal of working together to keep every child safe from harm,” said CAPS Executive Director Alane Fagin.
Residents who would like more information about the programs and services offered by CAPS can call 516-621-0552 or visit their website at www.capsli.org.
