Sen. Aubertine Secures $30,000 For Dexter
Money will help develop the village’s Flow Management Plan and comply with DEC
DEXTER (July 23, 2008)—State Sen. Darrel J. Aubertine today announced a grant of $30,000 for the village’s Flow Management Plan and to conduct remedial investigations required by the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
"This is an important project for the village," said Sen. Aubertine. "The rains this past Sunday really put a strain on the system and this funding will help the village determine where the excess water is coming in. The village officials have done a great job searching out ways to address the issue and I was glad to make this project one of my funding priorities."
The Senate member initiative grant will help the village pay for two weir meters to measure water flow, survey the condition of manholes, clean the sewer system’s gravity mains and set up video equipment to inspect them. This will help advance the proposed development of 28 homes at Dexter Acres off Cemetery Road and 19 family apartments at Hunter’s Run.
"On behalf of the village of Dexter, I’d like to thank Sen. Aubertine for securing this money," said Mayor Richard M. Lawlee. "It will allow our community to continue growing and keep the village from passing on much of the project’s cost to the ratepayers."
The project will help reduce inflow and infiltration of outside water into the sewer system and help the village to plan for additions to its wastewater treatment facility in order to accommodate future development.
"Sen. Aubertine has been very committed to helping Dexter," said Legislator Robert J. Thomas. "As an assemblyman he secured money for our Fish Island project and the announcement today means a great deal for our future development plans. It shows that when we work together, accomplishments can be made, as we’ve shown before today and we’ll show again in the future."
