Statement By Senator Darrel J. Aubertine

"The Governor's resignation today is appropriate and will allow our state to move forward from this sad and sordid situation.
 

Words cannot express how deeply disappointed I am with Mr. Spitzer, a man who came to office on a promise of much-needed reform, but whose personal failings have not only cost him his office but also inflicted immeasurable pain on his family and our state.

Now, our attention must turn to the business of government, including passing an on-time budget and finding ways to lower taxes and create jobs in our communities.

To our new Governor, David Paterson, I offer any and all support in his transition and look forward to working with him on the people's business. I will keep the Spitzer family in my prayers in the coming days."
