Senator Skelos & Assemblyman Barra Announce $100,000 For Malverne School District
State Senator Dean G. Skelos (9th Senate District) and Assemblyman Bob Barra (14th Assembly District) announced today that $100,000 in state funds has been secured for the Malverne Union Free School District. Senator Skelos and Assemblyman Barra stated that the funds will help fund technology upgrades including new computers, science lab work stations, and programs to teach students how to better utilize technology services and the internet.
"To keep up with fast changes in technology, we must continue to upgrade classroom learning tools so students will be prepared to get into the college of their choice and be best prepared to compete in a global market," Senator Skelos said. "These technology upgrades will also promote safe use of the internet which is so important to child safety while familiarizing students with cutting edge equipment."
"Technology will take more of a role in students lives during and after college, so it is important that they have increased access to an advanced learning environment," Assemblyman Barra said. "This funding will go a long way to prepare our students to live in a highly competitive and global market."
Acting Superintendent of the Malverne Union Free School District Dr. James Hunderfund said, "We are extremely indebted to Senator Skelos and Assemblyman Barra for thinking of Malverne, our students, and our community. They have been very helpful to our school district and we are most appreciative."
