Senator Skelos Secures Money For The Jewish Association For Services For The Aged

Senate Majority Leader Dean G. Skelos (9th Senate District) recently announced that he secured $15,000 in state grants for the Jewish Association for Services for the Aged (“JASA”). This money will help fund JASA’s Long Beach Service Center and Home Care Program, the Long Beach Meals on Wheels Program and the Community Service Center.

JASA's mission is to sustain and enrich the lives of the aging in the New York metropolitan area so that they can remain in the community with dignity and autonomy. JASA serves older adults of all backgrounds with equal concern for their needs and provide services directly to individuals in the community. It values the role of the professional social worker in providing our services, and work to train the next generation of social workers and aspire to fulfill the Jewish value of honoring the aging.

“JASA helps improve the lives of senior citizens by providing excellent programs and services and advocacy for the Jewish senior community,” said Senator Skelos. “This money will enable JASA to continue its important work and create a better quality of life for seniors.”

The Jewish Association for Services for the Aged (JASA) was created as a multi-service, autonomous agency affiliated with the Federation of Jewish Philanthropies (now UJA-Federation of New York) in June 1968. Today, JASA and its affiliates constitute one of the largest community-based, voluntary social service agencies serving the aged in the United States.
