State Lawmakers Introduce new legislation to ban free MTA rides

Current and former MTA board members will be required to give up their free travel perks.

In a bipartisan effort State Senators Eric Adams (D – Brooklyn) and Andrew Lanza (R – Staten Island) are introducing legislation aimed at requiring senior MTA officials to relinquish their free E-Z Pass and MetroCards.

MTA board members are supposed to serve without salary or other compensation. State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo’s office has termed the action illegal.
