New York State Senator Eric Adams (D, Brooklyn) will hold a press conference with leaders of the African-American and Jewish communities to express their outrage over two hate crimes committed against members of the Hasidic Jewish community. The group will use the celebration of the birthdate of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. to demand ethnic and religious tolerance.
Senator Adams states: “One of the greatest speeches in history was delivered by Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., the man whose birthday we commemorate today. In that brilliant oration, Dr. King told us that he dreamt of a world in which blacks and whites would co-exist harmoniously. We meet now to demand that the future envisioned by Dr. King begin today.”
