TO HOLD A TOWN HALL FORUM TO DISCUSS RE-ENTRY INTO THE COMMUNITY PROGRAMS FOR FORMERLY INCARCERATED INDIVIDUALS

NYS Senator Eric Adams (D, Brooklyn) hosts a community forum with Kings County DA Charles Hynes and the CHCMC to explore re-entry programs for previously incarcerated persons. Under the auspices of ComALERT (Community And Law Enforcement Resources Together), a program engineered to function as a bridge between the community and formerly incarcerated individuals, returning persons can make a successful transition from prison to community.

ComALERT, established by DA Hynes, provides drug treatment and counseling, mental health treatment and counseling, GED classes, transitional housing, transitional employment, and job placement assistance.

Senator Adams states: "The successful re-entry of formerly incarcerated individuals into society is an important issue, and it is therefore one of my major concerns. It is of critical importance that we develop methods to improve the percentage of returnees who make a successful passage back into the community. The services of the ComALERT program begin almost immediately upon an individual’s release from prison, and ComALERT exerts strenuous and laudable efforts to insure that re-incorporation into the mainstream is successful. Our forum on Tuesday, December 9, at Medgar Evers College will provide an in-depth look at re-entry programs."
