Sen. Farley Reports Weather Warning Issued For 44th District

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C - Schenectady)received the following information from the National Weather Service in Albany. He is passing the information along to his constituents because the "Red Flag Warning" has been issued for all of his district, that includes Fulton, Montgomery, Saratoga and Schenectady Counties.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN ALBANY HAS ISSUED A RED FLAG WARNING FOR THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES: ALBANY, COLUMBIA, DUTCHESS, FULTON, GREEN, MONTGOMERY, RENSSELAER, SARATOGA, SCHENECTADY, SCHOHARIE, ULSTER, WARREN, WASHINGTON,THE RED FLAG WARNING IS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 6 PM THIS AFTERNOON. THE FIRE WEATHER WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

WINDS WILL BECOME NORTH-NORTHWEST THIS MORNING WITH SUSTAINED WIND SPEEDS INCREASING TO AROUND 12 TO 17 MPH. GUSTS OF 25 TO 30 MPH WILL BE COMMON BY LATE MORNING AND INTO THE AFTERNOON HOURS. DRIER AIR WILL FILTER INTO THE REGION WITH MINIMUM RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES MAINLY BETWEEN 20 AND 25 PERCENT THIS AFTERNOON.THE COMBINATION OF LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY AND GUSTY WINDS WILL CREATE RED FLAG CONDITIONS ACROSS THE WARNING AREA.

A RED FLAG WARNING MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EITHER OCCURRING NOW OR WILL SHORTLY. A COMBINATION OF STRONG WINDS, LOW RELATIVE HUMIDITY, AND WARM TEMPERATURES WILL CREATE EXPLOSIVE FIRE GROWTH POTENTIAL.
