Senator Farley Honors Centro Civico's Ladan Alomar As A Woman Of Distinction

State Senator Hugh T. Farley (R, C - Schenectady) was pleased to announce Ladan Alomar, Executive Director of Centro Civico of Amsterdam, was named as a New York State Senate Woman of Distinction on June 3rd in Albany.

"Ladan is a tremendous asset not only to Centro Civico, but also to the Amsterdam and Montgomery County communities," Senator Farley said. "Ladan is a tireless worker for Centro Civico and she also contributes greatly to other organizations such as Fulmont Community Action Agency and St. Mary’s Hospital."

The Senate's "Woman of Distinction" program was created in 1998 to honor New York women who exemplify personal excellence, or whose professional achievements, acts of courage, selflessness, integrity or perseverance serve as an example to all New Yorkers.

Ms. Alomar began her tenure with Centro Civico in 1989 when she was hired to coordinate the Liberty Partnership Program (LPP), a program serving youth at-risk of dropping out of high school. Ms. Alomar succeeded in making LPP a statewide, community-based model program with over a ninety-five percent graduation rate. Within six months of her employment, she was promoted as Deputy Director of Operations, and three years later, became the second person to hold the title of Executive Director for the organization.
