Senator Alesi Secures $25,000 Grant For Daystar
Senator Jim Alesi (R- Perinton) today announced he has secured a $25,000 grant for Daystar, a unique non-institutional provider of medical daycare services for infants in the Rochester area. The grant secured by Senator Alesi will be used to assist families in need of special services.
"Daystar provides an immeasurable service to the Rochester community and has had a lasting impression on the families that they assist," said Senator Alesi. "My hope in securing this grant is that Daystar will continue to grow and operate in Monroe County and ultimately be better able to serve those families and children in need."
"Daystar does not turn anyone away for lack of financial resources," said Mary Erturk, Director of Daystar. "We offer special services for those families in need and this service is made possible by the generous contribution of Senator Alesi. We are very thankful for the funding secured by the Senator."
Daystar is the first and only licensed medical childcare program in New York state offering nursing supervised childcare to this population of medically fragile and developmentally challenged infants and toddlers. The organization is also an active community advocate for children in need. The funding secured by Senator Alesi will allow Daystar to continue its special service program, which allows Daystar to make a difference in the lives of economically disadvantaged families caring for infants with severe medical complexities.
This weekend, Daystar will hold its annual Daystar Derby Fundraiser (May 3rd) at Equestrian Meadow at Nazareth College. The derby includes live coverage of the Kentucky Derby while guests enjoy live music, live auction, southern styled food, cocktails, and hospitality.
Senator Alesi continues to focus his energies on children's health with his support of community-wide initiatives, as well as several new laws aimed at environmental health, recognizing the power of prevention in developing healthy lifestyles. To date, Senator Alesi has secured $65,000 for Daystar.
