Executive South Family Golf and Recreation Center will train new golfers and protect green space in the Town of Henrietta

Senator Jim Alesi (R- Perinton), Assemblyman Joe Errigo and the Henrietta Foundation announced today that it has purchased the Executive South Family Golf and Recreation Center to open a major education/training center for area kids and families. The new center will protect local green space and help train generations of golfers in the Rochester area starting this spring.

"I am delighted to join the Henrietta Foundation in announcing that the Executive South Family Golf and Recreation Center will continue to provide recreational and educational opportunities for the greater Rochester community," said Senator Alesi. "This golf course has been a fixture in the Henrietta community and now will remain a place where children and adults alike can come to learn the game of golf. In addition to the obvious fitness components associated with the course, we are ensuring that we keep valuable green space for the entire community to enjoy."

"The purchase of a community asset like the Executive South Family Golf and Recreation Center would not be possible without the support of leaders in our community like Senator Jim Alesi and Charley Lookup. What we are announcing today will have a lasting benefit on our entire community for many years. Individuals and groups of all cultures and diversity will be able to learn the game of golf and we will preserve vital green space in the Town of Henrietta for future generations," said Bud Snyder, president, Henrietta Foundation.

"I am very excited to see the Executive South Golf Course headed in an exciting direction. I look forward to working closely with the Henrietta Foundation to introduce the wonderful game of golf to kids and families. We also look forward to partnering with area schools and recreation programs," said Charley Lookup, former owner of Executive South.

The Executive South Golf Course, which contains 9 holes, a driving range, practice green, a learning center, restaurant and clubhouse, was purchased for $590,000 thanks to a $300,000 state grant from New York State Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation to protect green space in the Town of Henrietta. Senator Alesi supported the initial grant request from the office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, as well as secured a $50,000 state grant though his office. Charley Lookup has donated $40,000 and will hold a mortgage for $200,000.
