Bonacic Announces Recycling Grants
State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) and Governor Spitzer announced that Delaware, Ulster, and OrangeCountywill receive over $1.9 million for recycling expenses.
"Investing in local recycling and waste reduction efforts is in everyone’s best interest," Senator Bonacic stated. "Our precious resources in the region are what makes our communities special. I am pleased to partner with Governor Spitzer to aid Delaware, Ulster and OrangeCounty residents by enhancing recycling programs and reducing waste."
Senator Bonacic is a member of the Senate’s Environmental Conservation Committee and has worked tirelessly to secure increased State investment in the Environmental Protection Fund, as well as other land preservation initiatives.
Delaware County will receive $1,173,417 for a recycling facility and equipment. The Village of Delhi will receive $8,057 for recycling equipment. In Ulster County, the Ulster County Resource Recovery Agency will receive over $79,000. Orange County Programs will receive over $750,000.
"Our region relies on tourism for the economic health and well-being of our families. Our natural beauty is a major attraction for visitors and must be preserved," concluded Senator Bonacic.
